Me and my C12 #6
chris147 — Mar 7, 2010My C12 is full of adventures.
The situation hasn’t changed at all since my last blog. After powering the C12 up, I still get the same error message but eye tracking works.

chris147 — Mar 7, 2010As wonderful applications are, as funny they can behave sometimes. My eye tracker still sends the same error message, which I posted in my previous blog but after clicking OK the eye tracking starts up. Strange but at least it is working.

chris147 — Mar 6, 2010Eye tracker doesn’t want to start up.
All of a sudden, the eye tracker decided not to start up anymore. I got the following error message:
“An error occured when trying to start the TecSDK client network: The TecSDK Server application didn’t start in a timely fashion, please check the server log file. -> Failed to start the application.”
I tried to uninstall, repair the software, still got the same message. The final solution was to uninstall the CEye software, shut the C12 down, unplug the power cable, take the CEye module off, then power the C12 up, shut it down, unplug the power cable, put the CEye module back on, power up the C12, install the CEye software. The error message still popped up but the eye tracking works now. I hope next time I start up my C12 the error message will be gone.

chris147 — Mar 6, 2010I am trying to pair up my Samsung mobile with my C12. I know that there is a SIM card bay at the back of the C12 but I would like to keep my mobile as a mobile and not take the SIM out of it. I would like to keep my SIM in my mobile so the phone still functions as a mobile not only as a SIM card in my tobii.

chris147 — Mar 6, 2010I got my C12 with the CEye on Tuesday, set it up and used it for about five hours. I took my time in getting used to the slightly new enviroment, much better mouse control and the lack of the good old tobii desktop of the P10.

chris147 — Feb 20, 2010I was watching the tobii C-series training videos when an idea came across. One of the videos is about the different feedback types.
I thought about having a combined feedback dot, a mixture of the shrinking dot and the dwell clock. The dwell clock helps in telling how long time is needed to dwell for a cell to become activated, whereas the shrinking dot helps to focus on the desired cell.
What if there was a feedback dot, which does both jobs at the same time?

chris147 — Feb 18, 2010- How are you? – I asked.
– I am fine, thanks. – she replied with a big smile – Do you only use this programme to talk to people?
At this point I felt a bit lost as I had already started saying something else and couldn’t answer no to her question because I didn’t have yes and no in front of me on the screen. Still, I didn’t want to make her wait for my answer but didn’t fancy losing everything that I typed in.
...
I was playing Minesweeper when mum asked me about something and I could not say yes to her without exiting the game in which I was doing really well. It felt frustating.
...
My mobile rings, so I pick it up with my P10. Questions follow eachother, the caller is in a hurry and they only need a yes or no from me. First I need to navigate to a grid set where I can answer. Having a short cut enabling me to say yes or no from anywhere – any programme – on the tobii would come handy.
In my opinion, being able to say yes and no anytime, anywhere when using a tobii device would be very useful.

chris147 — Feb 11, 2010How do you talk to people on your tobiis? What sort of communication method do you prefer? Do you type everything in letter by letter or you use word prediction? You may find pretyped words easier to build sentences with. Or even a mixture of pretyped words with symbols on each cell. Whichever your preference is, the idea is to be able to let your enviroment know what you want to tell them. I personally still find pretyped words with symbols the fastest way to communicate. This is how I carry out my daily conversations.
In this blog, you can find my example of having a casual conversation about the Racer game with my carer using the Grid 2 software. I tell him, that Hector showed me the game and that I want to try it out. Then my carer asks my opinion about the game and when I want to give it a go. I give him clearly understandable answers.

I would like to request to do brainstorming. The idea is, that all tobii users, professionals and helpers would shoot videos of their own conversations, upload and share them so we can all learn from eachother.
